Spotify Camp Nou, FC Barcelona’s legendary football stadium

FC Barcelona plays all of its home games in the temple of football, Spotify Camp Nou. The stadium currently has a capacity of 99,354 spectators, and is uncovered. Works are right now underway at the stadium, which is being expanded to 105,000 seas, with all the stands being covered. The Spotify Camp Nou museum is also being revamped.

If you go and attend an FC Barcelona match, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how friendly the atmosphere is there. Visiting a football match in Barcelona is a real family occasion.

The gates of Spotify Camp Nou open 1.5 hours before the match commences.

How to reach the Spotify Camp Nou?

FC Barcelona’s legendary football stadium is located in the south west of the city in the Les Corts district, around five kilometres from the centre. Barcelona’s public transport system is well organised, and plenty buses, metros and trams stop at the stadium.

However, we don’t recommend going to the Spotify Camp Nou by car or taxi, unless setting off well in advance. It’s highly congested around the stadium on FC Barcelona match days, and parking is both a nightmare, and extremely expensive. Opt for using public transport.

By metro to Spotify Camp Nou

There are two metro lines in Barcelona that can take you to Spotify Camp Nou.

Line 3, green line from the centre.

With line 3, you can get off at various stops around the stadium. This is also the line running from the centre of Barcelona. You can get off at the following stops:

Les Corts station, which is the closest to Spotify Camp Nou at five minutes’ walking.
Maria Cristina station
Palau Reial station

These stops are around a ten-minute walk away from Spotify Camp Nou.

Line 5, blue line

This line runs from the area around Sagrada Família. Travel in the direction of Cornellà Centre and get off at one of the following stations:

If you’d like to get to Spotify Camp Nou by bus, you can take the following lines: D20, H6, H8, 7, 33, 54, 56, 57, 59, 63, 67, 68, 70, 75, 78, 113, 157 & L12

If it’s got late after the FC Barcelona, there’s no need to worry. You can catch the night bus that runs throughout the night. You can take one of the following lines: N2, N3, N12 & N14.

FC Barcelona football tickets: how to know where you’re sitting

Once you’ve booked your football trip to FC Barcelona and received your match tickets, your ticket will display what’s below. Here’s a brief explanation of how the football tickets for FC Barcelona work.

Accés (grounds entrance), this is where you can enter the Spotify Camp Nou grounds. By the way, using precisely this entrance isn’t compulsory, and neither is your FC Barcelona match ticket is not checked here. You can enter the grounds wherever you like.

Porta (stadium gate), this is the entrance for the stadium. You have to have your football ticket scanned here, and using the right entrance is obligatory in this case.

Boca (section), you now arrive onto the walkway of Spotify Camp Nou stadium. There are various entrances providing access to your seat. Pay close attention to your number.

Fila (which row), once you’re inside the stadium, look for your “Fila”. This is simply your row.

Seient (your seat), the final thing before kick-off is finding the right seat. Note that the seat numbering isn’t like what you’re used to. There are only odd or even numbers for each row: with numbers going up from seat 2, 4 to 6, etc. Or otherwise from seat 1, 3 to 5, etc. Enjoy the match!

Spotify Camp Nou stadium tour

No trip to Barcelona is in fact complete without booking a tour of the stadium. During the “Spotify Camp Nou Experience”, you’re taken on a tour through this club’s glorious past. You can either do an audio tour or, at an attention cost, be taken around by a guide. You follow a pre-determined route along which you can check out features such as the players’ changing rooms, you walk through the players’ tunnel (impressive), dugout, the press box from reporting is performed, you get a glimpse of the VIP boxes, and of course you visit the museum. There are sometimes queues and it might be half an hour before you can start the tour. There is no specific time associated with the tour, and you can spend just as long as you want, up to three hours before kick-off.

Please note: The museum closes three hours before the match starts on FC Barcelona match days, and it might be the case that certain elements cannot be accessed. We therefore recommend doing the tour on a day other than match days.

The price of a normal tour are €26, with a guided tour costing €53. For children aged 6 to 13, the price is €20. Younger children can enter free of charge.

Snacks and drinks close to Spotify Camp Nou

Before attending an FC Barcelona Football match, it’s nice to go for a bite to eat and a drink in the Spotify Camp Nou area. There are fortunately a number of great places near the stadium, and finding local bars in the surrounding streets won’t be a problem. If it’s a football bar you’re looking for, head for Futballarium.

Futballarium

A unique experience for football aficionados! This bar’s owner is a huge football fan, and has lavishly decked out the venue with shirts and scarves of all kinds of clubs: with more than 100 of the former and 400 of the latter on display. You’ll feel at home here straight away. Here they serve a number of simple dishes, and boast a large beer collection. This place really gets you in the mood before your FC Barcelona match commences. Futballerium closes its doors at 21.00.

Tapas 24

You’ll find Tapas 23 on the FC Barcelona grounds. This restaurant is a collaboration between Catalan chef Carles Abellan and FC Barcelona, and is perfect pre-match for savouring the tapas Spain is renowned for. The restaurant is open daily from 9.00 to 23.00.

Information about FC Barcelona

Where should we start with a global club such as this? Somewhat surprisingly, FC Barcelona was founded on 29 November 1899 by a Swiss, by the name of Hans Kamper. At the age of 22, we was in fact on his way to Africa to help set up a sugar trading company there, but ended up staying on in Barcelona. He was obsessed with football, and started ‘Football Club Barcelona’ along with a number of English and Swiss supporters, after having placed an advert in the Los Deportes sports paper.

Kamper – later changing his name to Joan Gamper – picked the club’s colours of blue and purple himself, and was the team’s first captain. He played 48 matches between 1899 and 1903, scoring more than one hundred times. As chairman, he went on to spend years as the driving force between the club’s further growth and development. His private life was, however, less fortunate. Plagued by personal and financial issues, he took his own life on 30 July 1930. In hour of the club’s founder, FC Barcelona still plays the opening game of the season for the Trofeu Joan Gamper annually to this day.

The FC Barcelona logo as we now know it was designed in 1910 by Carles Comamala, who played at the club from 1903 to 1912, and was also a medical student and gifted draughtsman. He won a competition held by the club to create a new club logo.

Since then, although the ‘escudo’ has been updated – last time in 2002 – its core has remained unchanged: Its shape is still that of an ‘olla’, a traditional Catalan cooking pot. The red cross on the white top-right section is the Cross of Saint Jorge, the patron saint of Catalonia. The adjacent section with red/yellow stripes symbolises the Senyera, the traditional flag of Barcelona and Catalonia. The letters F.C.B below of course stand for the club’s initials. The football is displayed in a section in the club’s colours blue and purple (blaugrana).

Jordi Cruijff, the son of Johan who also played with Barcelona for some time, also happens to have been named after Saint Jordi referred to in the logo.

Binnen ons gezin neemt het internationale voetbal, zeker als 'kijksport', een prominente plek in. Daarbij genieten de Engelse en Spaanse competities de voorkeur. Wedstrijden uit deze competities worden via de TV zorgvuldig gevolgd en af en toe worden dergelijke wedstrijden door ons bezocht. Zo ben ik met mijn jongste zoon ooit naar een wedstrijd van Liverpool in het stadion Anfield geweest en heb ik met mijn oudste zoon enige tijd later een wedstrijd van Arsenal in het nieuwe Emirates stadion bezocht. In beide gevallen zijn de arrangementen destijds geboekt via seatchamp.com/nl en in beide gevallen kan gesproken worden van een onvergetelijke ervaring. Niet in de laatste plaats, omdat de arrangementen (vlucht, hotel en entreetickets voor de wedstrijd) tot in de puntjes waren verzorgd. Recent hebben wij met ons gehele gezin de wedstrijd FC Barcelona-Atletico Madrid in het Camp Nou stadion bezocht. Het betrof hier een 3-daags arrangement dat wij wederom via seatchamp.com/nl hadden geboekt. Zaterdag 3 maart vlogen wij vroeg van Schiphol naar Barcelona, om maandagavond 5 maart weer terug te vliegen. Beide vluchten (met Transavia) zijn prima en zonder vertraging verlopen. Het vervoer van de luchthaven in Barcelona naar het het centrum van de stad is uitstekend geregeld en met de zogeheten Aerobus ook zeker niet duur. Het hotel bevond zich in het centrum van de stad in een zijstraat van de bekende Ramblas. Een prima locatie om de stad wandelend te bezichtigen. We hebben de zaterdag verder gebruikt om de stad Barcelona te verkennen. Een stad die qua bezienswaardigheden minder te bieden heeft dan bijvoorbeeld steden als Londen en Parijs, maar toch zeker de moeite waard is. De Sagrada Familia en het Parque Guell zijn de grootste trekpleisters. Maar het is, althans zo lijkt het, toch de voetbalclub FC Barcelona die de meeste aandacht opeist als je door de stad loopt. De economie in deze stad wordt voor een groot deel gedragen door deze voetbalclub. En dat maakt FC Barcelona meer dan een voetbalclub alleen. Het is een merk en voor vele Catalanen een 'Way of Life'. De zondag (4 maart) stond volledig in het teken van de topwedstrijd tegen Atlico Madrid. De entreekaarten waren keurig op tijd per e-mail toegestuurd en ontvangen. We zijn dan ook vroeg naar het stadion gegaan. Rondom en binnen het stadion hing een prima en welhaast gemoedelijke sfeer. We hadden prima plekken op de tweede ring ter hoogte van de cornervlag. De wedstrijd was prima en leidde tot een 1-0 overwinning voor 'Barca' door een mooie goal van Messi. Het juichen voor een goal door bijna 100.000 toeschouwers in een vol Camp nou is overigens een ervaring op zich. De maandag (5 maart) hebben we gebruikt om het museum van FC Barcelona (inclusief de catacomben van het Camp Nou stadion) te bekijken. Leuk om de Nederlandse inbreng bij deze club in de afgelopen decennia, die uiteraard begon met Johan Cruyff, te zien. We kunnen terug kijken op een uitermate geslaagd en gezellig weekend, dat ook deze keer weer prima georganiseerd was.

Tip: Aan de Ramblas bevindt zich een grote Nike-store. Boven deze winkel is, niet goed herkenbaar, een NBA eetcafé gevestigd. Het eten (o.a. diverse soorten hamburgers) is daar prima, de bediening is vriendelijke en de prijzen zijn oké.

Wij hebben de reis met Seatchamp als zeer goed ervaren, de wedstrijd was minder(gelijkspel en geen doelpunten) maar dat maakte de sfeer in het stadion er niet minder om.De stad Barcelona was prachtig,de haven de stad en mooi weer.Omdat wij nog nooit hebben gevlogen, was dit arrangement dik voor elkaar.Alles was duidelijk uitgelegd.En de service van Seatchamp was prima.

Tip: Omdat wij er maar 2 dagen waren hebben wij de eerste dag veel van de stad kunnen zien.De volgende dag was het ook prachtig weer, en hebben ons prima vermaakt bij de haven en het strand.De volgende keer huren we zeker een fiets, zodat we nog meer van deze prachtige stad kunnen ontdekken.

Een weekend Barcelona met mijn gezin

Na twee keer eerder alleen met mijn zoon via Seatchamp naar Barcelona te zijn geweest had ik een stille wens ook mijn vrouw en dochter met een dergelijk arrangement te verrassen.... Allereerst de service van Naomi..... geweldig! De reis, een fantastische wedstrijd (5-0 tegen Celta)), Barcelona als stad...... de 3 dagen voelden als een week! Een opeenstapeling van prachtige ervaringen.

Weekendje (fc) Barcelona

Topweekendje Barcelona gehad als vader-zoon-voetballiefhebbers. We hadden mazzel dat Barcelona op scherp stond tegen Celta de Vigo. Het was een soort generale repetitie voor de (inmiddels al) legendarische wedstrijd tegen PSG. De organisatie door/via Seatchamp was prima. Alles verliep volgens verwachting, ook de satdionkaartjes die oorspronkelijk zouden worden toegestuurd waren op tijd bezorgd door de koerier en lagen klaar in het hotel. Al met al een aanrader als je als "kerels" (met ook nog 2 dochters/zussen) een lekker weekendje er op uit wilt.

Tip: Wij hadden ook de stadion- en museumtoer er bij geboekt. Was ook erg leuk!

Heerlijk weekend Barcelona!

Voor mijn 30e verjaardag heb ik van mijn vriendin een voetbalreis gehad naar de topper van de Primera Division FC Barcelona-Atletico Madrid. De nummer 1 tegen de nummer 2. Een vol stadion, goals van Messi en Suarez, twee rode kaarten en een 2-1 overwinning voor Barca, een super ervaring! Hotel Adante is een erg fijn hotel, de voetbaltickets lagen klaar bij aankomst, prima kamers, gaaf dakterras met uitzicht over de stad, vriendelijk personeel en een goed ontbijt. Het ligt op 7 min lopen van de Ramblas en de metrohalte Drassanes, waarmee je eenvoudig richting Camp Nou kan (stap uit bij halte Les Corts en volg de mensenmassa) en andere bezienswaardigheden kan bezoeken. Daarnaast scheen de zon heerlijk, wat het geheel maakte tot een geweldig weekend, wat super geregeld was door het Seatchamp team.

Tip: Doe een fietstour, hierbij kom je op leukste plekken van de stad, waar je anders nooit komt. Zonder moe te worden. Koop een T-10 Metro kaart voor E10,- Hiermee kan je 10 metro ritjes maken. Ook kan je deze kaart gebruiken om vanaf het vliegveld met de trein naar het centrum van Barcelona te komen. En dat voor maar E 1,- p.p. Wil je een keer lekker eten, authentieke sfeer, zonder toeristen met Catalanen, ga dan eten bij Sol Soler op het plein Placa del Sol in de wijk Gracia (metro halte Fontana). Wij zijn in het Casa Battlo geweest, ontworpen door Gaudi, mooi om dit van binnen te zien. El born is een heel sfeervolle middeleeuwse wijk.

Voetbaltrip naar Barcelona!

Alles was top geregeld. Prijs kwaliteit verhouding is super. Ga zo door!!!

Tip: Rond drie uur eten in de haven bij El Rey de Gamba. Super eten voor een mooie prijs. Veel Spaanse mensen. Zegt genoeg!

Olah...Barcelona!

De aanleiding van deze trip naar Barcelona was dat ik 60 jaar ben geworden en na een roerig jaar in de privesfeer had besloten om met mijn zoon van 18, mijn dochter van 21 en met haar vriend van 25 jaar mijn verjaardag op deze manier te vieren. De reis begon met de 1e trein op zaterdag-morgen 7 november. Deze vertrok vanuit station om 05.10 uur vanaf station Hoorn(nh).We kwamen aan om 06.00 uur op Schiphol. Ach een bakkie koffie moest kunnen en daarna gauw inchecken. Maar wat een rij stond daar bij de incheckbalie. Afijn gewoon je beurt afwachten en toen als een speer naar de vertrek plek van het vliegtuig. Daar aangekomen bleek dat we te laat waren...nee he, het zal toch niet..... Afijn na wat aandringen en een telefoontje naar het vliegtuig mochten we toch nog mee. Naar onze stoelen en we vertrokken direct. Om 09.20 uur kwamen we in Barcelona aan; prachtig weer en onze dag kon zo wie zo al niet meer stuk natuurlijk. We gingen met de shuttle vanaf het vliegveld naar het trein station, deze bracht ons naar het metro station en van daaruit met de metro naar een halte in de buurt van ons hotel. Na nog een half uur lopenkwamen we bij ons hotel aan, inmiddels 12.15 uur. Zo dat was even een reisje. Ingecheckt en daarna richting Sagrada Famila; mijn dochter had alleen wat highlights gepland en geen uitgebreide bezoeken dus daar vandaan naar de Ramblas; heerlijk al die mensen te zien slenteren. Terrasje gepakt en later daar nog wat gegeten. Terug naar het hotel en heerlijk geslapen. Na een prima ontbijt gingen we zondagmorgen naar het oude gotische centrum in de buurt van de basiliek van Barcelona. Leuke sfeer en gezellig. Daarna richting het stadion om de wedstrijd Barcelona-Villareaal te bekijken die om 16.00 uur begon. We waren prima op tijd en hebben daar eerst nog wat gegeten en toen naar binnen. Wat een bak van een stadion... fantastisch. Daar is het AZ stadion een kleintje bij...maar AZ is ook geen Barcelona natuurlijk. Grappig was dat er 2 mannetjes zo schuin voor ons zaten; Freddie en Henkie, afijn we raakten aan de praat en wat bleek ...ze kwamen uit hetzelfde dorp als wij...Wognum. Ik dacht dat Wognum niet zo groot was maar ik kende ze niet en dat in Nou Camp in Barcelona. Een mooie wedstrijd die gewonnen werd door Barcelona met 2 doelpunten van Neymar en een strafschop van Suarez. Vooral de 2e van Neymar was een beauty. Vanaf het stadion richting het hotel en daar in de buurt (het hotel staat in de studenten wijk) in een soort Mensa nog wat gegeten. Daarna naar het hotel om lekker te slapen. Maandag morgen na een heerlijk ontbijt hebben we gepakt en uitgecheckt. Toen met de taxi naar het vliegveld en niet met het openbaar vervoer. We waren nu in plaats van 2 uur maar 20 minuten onder weg dus echt een aanrader om dat zo te doen. De kosten vallen ook mee en zijn ca € 30,00. We hadden nog steeds onze T-shirts aan maar aangekomen op Schiphol kwam het water met bakken uit de lucht. Afijn met de trein weer richting Hoorn waar we werden opgehaald en weer thuis gebracht. Al met al een prachtig weekend waarin iedereen heerlijk heeft genoten. Een topper!

Tip: 1. Met de taxi vanaf het vliegveld naar je hotel. Openbaar vervoer is iets goedkoper maar kost je veel en veel meer tijd. 2. Eten op de Ramblas; is een beetje toeristisch maar is gewoon de moeite waard!

Onvergetelijke reis met de kinderen en de kleinkinderen!

Vanaf het begin dat wij deze reis hadden geboekt zijn wij door Seatchamp uitstekend geholpen. Een prima vlucht, mooi hotel, fantastische stad, schitterende plaatsen in het stadion tijdens de wedstrijd van Barcelona. We hebben ons prima vermaakt!

Tip: Het is eigenlijk te veel om op te noemen, ik zou zeggen laat de mensen zelf Barcelona ontdekken!!!!
